About The BTS

The British Transplantation Society was formed in 1972 and membership is open to all professionals working in the field of transplantation. The membership is multi-disciplinary and includes clinicians from a wide range of specialties, basic scientists, scientists working in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics, nurses, donor coordinators, professions allied to medicine and ethicists.

This part of the site details the history, aims, vision and objectives of the Society. The current members of the Executive, Council and Committees are also listed and how to contact them.

The BTS is the professional voice of transplantation in the UK and the only Society that is for all professionals involved in transplantation in the UK. The BTS is increasingly involved in national policy making; being approached by the print and broadcast media for comment on all issues relating to organ donation and transplantation; as well as developing the scientific, clinical and ethical practice. We feel it important that all members of the transplant community are also members of the Society.

There are many benefits of membership which include:

To be part of the largest group of transplant professionals
Significantly reduced registration fees for the Annual Congress
For a three year period there is a 50% reduction in European Society of Organ Transplantation membership
A monthly E-bulletin
Members only area on the website with discussion forum for each constituency group, searchable membership database and exclusive content
Access to bursaries and grants

The cost of membership remains excellent value - £75 for consultants, £60 for standard membership and £20 for those on a salary of <£30K.
