Who we are
The British Transplantation Society (BTS) was formed in 1972 and membership is open to all professionals working in the field of transplantation. The membership is multi-disciplinary and includes clinicians from a wide range of specialties, basic scientists, scientists working in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics, nurses, donor coordinators, professions allied to medicine and ethicists.
Introduction
The British Transplantation Society aims to be the national professional voice of transplantation, representing all the disciplines of the transplantation community and developing scientific, clinical and ethical practice for the benefit of patients.
The BTS recognizes that transplantation does engender media interest and are keen to work with the media within the constraints below.
The Secretariat offer administrative and management support to the Society.
Procedure
1. Media enquiries should be addressed via email or phone to the secretariat (contact details below). In making the approach it is helpful to give the following information:
- Your name, organization and contact details
- What is the topic you are enquiring about?
- Details of what is required (e.g. information or interview), type of media (newspaper, radio, television etc), where it is required (by phone or specific venue) and when required.
- When do you need a response by?
2. The secretariat will contact the executive officers or a member with specific expertise and they will endeavour to respond either though the secretariat or directly. This will be done the same working day where possible, but the clinical commitments of the executive members may sometimes mean this is not possible. Depending on the complexity of the request further information and advice may need to be sought from those with the necessary expertise prior to giving a statement or interview.
3. If an interview is required then it is requested that as much notice as possible can be given.
