Hesperis Course
Applications are invited for the next Hesperis course which provides excellent advanced training in organ transplantation. The two sessions for the academic year 2008-2009 will be held in Paris (4-9 November, 2008) and Leuven (5-10 May 2009)
The course is aimed at surgeons, physicians, biologists, immunologists and pathologists looking for high level training to develop their current or future career in the field of transplantation. It is limited to a maximum of 66 European participants (9 from the UK/Ireland) and each participant must have (or will soon have) a permanent position in a Department of Transplantation and be less than 40 years of age at the time of application. Successful candidates will need to take care of their own travel expenses, but registration , accommodation and social events are paid for.

Paper copies of the relevant information are also available from Keith Rigg if you require. Applicants should be, or become, a member of ESOT. The closing date for completed applications is 31 May 2008.

NICE is currently undertaking an appraisal of kidney preservation. The BTS is a stakeholder in that appraisal and has been invited to make a submission. The draft submission is now available for consultation (click here). Please make any comments / suggestion by 18th February. Thereafter it will be submitted |

European Diploma in Transplantation Surgery
The next examination will take place in Berlin on 26th September. Closing date for applications is 30th April 2008. This is not a requirement for transplant trainees in the UK.
Consultant surgical members of the society may apply to be awarded the diploma on an honorary basis up until 30th September 2009. Thereafter the only way to get it will be by examination. For full details please click here
